More information on Evans Cycles
Evans Cycles has been around since 1921. It was only in 1999 when they started their e-commerce website and they were not expecting that this business plan would turn out to be a successful venture. In the past, they have also had success as a mail order retailer through cycling magazines and their own catalogues. This is why the transition to e-commerce was not as drastic as expected when it came to customer service.
Ever since the Evans Cycles website started, it has continued to evolve to cater to the shopping needs of customers from the UK and around the world. What's different with Evans Cycles is that they are able to combine their online services with their store network across the UK so they can offer shoppers a better option for online shopping.
How It All Started
It was in 1921 when the first shop for F.W. Evans Cycles opened in Kennington Road in London's south-east. For 30 years, the business was able to build a strong reputation as a shop that specialises in building their own bikes and frames. Basically, they were the quality bike shop that cyclist enthusiasts went to.
In the 1950's the business was bought by Joseph Smith and in the 70's the business was handed down to his son, Gary Smith. From then on, it was developed into a specialist cycle retailer shop.
In the 1990's, they began their Mail Order catalogue which enabled them to reach more people. Finally, in 1999, Evans Cycles was able to reach the internet.
